Presented by Gallery Players.
Love and lovers, mismatched partners, romance, foolishness and regret – all mesh in a tangled web over a weekend in a country mansion.
With its first word, “Remember?” A Little Night Music invites us back to a past era of elegance and enchantment – 1930s Sweden, where love, laughter, and music float through the air on evening breezes, in a land where the sun never sets.
Grande matriarch Madame Armfeldt tells her young granddaughter that the summer night will smile three times “at the follies of human beings.”
“The first smile smiles at the young, who know nothing….
The second, at the fools who know too little. . . .
and the third at the old who know too much.”
By the end of the evening, the secrets of the night are revealed.
“Heady, civilised, sophisticated and enchanting….” New York Times, 1973
“The score positively throbs with love, regret and desire.” Telegraph, 2008
Gallery Players are thrilled to be presenting this gorgeous Sondheim classic, which includes one of his most beloved numbers, Send in the Clowns.
