A script-in-hand reading of Rohan Gotobed’s brand-new play!
In pastoral England, Klara grows up in the shadow of her father’s legacy – a birthday gift that promises the world but costs the earth.
At a festival in the blazing summer sun, Klara and Cash share a first kiss.
In a cave at the end of time, Klara tells her children fairytales about how things used to be.
Spanning hundreds of thousands of years, Getting Closer is a haunting, surreal, and poetic journey through childhood, adolescence, and motherhood, set against the backdrop of the climate crisis.
Getting Closer is a new play by Rohan Gotobed. Rohan is a writer and director working between East Anglia and the South West. He studied at UEA, where he wrote and directed plays at the Maddermarket Theatre and The Garage.
