Through The Green Baize Door

Theatre shows Suffolk

Following on from the success of The Perennial Mr Potter, (the story of a Suffolk gardener), this piece looks at the lives of servants behind the green baize door and those they served 'upstairs.'

Retired butler, George Barrington, a Yorkshire man through and through, looks back on a lifetime of service at Thrigsby Hall, a very grand house in Yorkshire. He started working in the house as a boot boy in 1870 and worked his way up through the ranks to become butler. A well researched snapshot of servants’ lives in the Victorian and Edwardian eras.
