A dark comedy

Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? features middle-aged husband and wife George and Martha in a searing, booze-fuelled night of dangerous fun and games with young couple Nick and Honey. By the evening’s end, a stunning, almost unbearable revelation provides a climax that has shocked audiences for years.

This 1962 play by American Edward Albee took Broadway by storm and was adapted four years later as a multi-award-winning film starring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, of which one critic wrote: “Albee’s dialogue cuts as deep and hard as any barb in the history of the movies, or just about anywhere else.” The play has been revived many times since, including a 2017 National Theatre version with Imelda Staunton.

Centre Stage Company bring it to Haverhill Arts Centre in an innovatory theatre-in-the-round production directed by David Hart.

For anyone who has ever been married, had children or wanted to have children, this play is a must.

This play explores adult themes and uses adult language.
