New Wolsey Theatre Young Company to perform hit play
New Wolsey Theatre Young Company will perform the hit West End and Broadway play, ‘Every Brilliant Thing’, at the Gallery Studio in Ipswich this August, with 100 free tickets available for under-22s.
‘Every Brilliant Thing’ - written by Duncan Mcmillan with Jonny Donohoe in 2013 and since performed around the world to critical acclaim - is traditionally a one-person play and tackles the difficult subject of depression with humour, warmth and audience interaction.
Tony Casement, Head of Creative Communities at New Wolsey Theatre and Director of ‘Every Brilliant Thing’, said: “Every Brilliant Thing is a wonderful, intimate, hilarious show that deals with some difficult subject matter with humanity, compassion and a lightness of touch that makes the experience of watching a life affirming joy. Excitingly, the writer Duncan MacMillian has given us permission to change what was originally a one person show into something that our Young Company can do together, transforming our production into an exciting new version of a modern classic.”
New Wolsey Theatre Young Company, an auditioned ensemble for talented and passionate young performers aged 16 plus, will present their amateur production of the highly acclaimed show across three days in August 2026.
In a commitment to making live theatre accessible to young people, 100 tickets are available completely free for anyone aged under 22. These free tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so early booking is encouraged.
The New Wolsey Theatre’s Young Company is for those 16 and over who are passionate about theatre making and live performance. Young Company sessions run every Wednesday night during term time, at the New Wolsey Theatre, and offer young people the opportunity to create ambitious work and be part of a welcoming community of young creatives.
