The virtuoso Spanish guitarist, Iago Banet, is performing two shows in Suffolk this Summer, with dates at both The Quay Theatre in Sudbury and Thorington Outdoor Theatre.
Described as ‘a master of the guitar’ by Sean Rafferty of BBC Radio 3’s In Tune, Banet is a Galician musician who began to play Spanish guitar as a teenager, before moving to the UK in 2014 in search of new horizons, challenges and projects through which to develop his career.
Since then, he has played and recorded with multiple bands, while also building a reputation as a solo artist in what is known as ‘fingerstyle', showcasing new levels of skill and complexity, and creating stories without words.
His versatility is reflected in his fusing of styles, including fingerstyle, gypsy jazz, blues, rock, country, dixieland swing, Tex-Mex, pop and folk.
As well as touring in Spain and the UK, and playing various festivals, he has also released three solo albums, including “A Sunset Wine” (2019), “Iago Banet” (2022) and “TRES” (2023).
“✭✭✭✭ Nothing short of phenomenal. ”
Banet has had a strong connection with Suffolk ever since, while on holidays in Southwold, he did an impromptu set during Mark Flanagan (Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra)'s concert at the Arts Centre. He has been back to perform twice at Southwold Arts Centre and other towns in Suffolk.
This summer he returns to the county for two special concerts in two very different venues - follow the links below to check them out.
