Rock singer, songwriter, occasional actor and Deep Purple frontman, Ian Gillan, will be heading to Suffolk in 2027 as part of his UK tour: 'Talking Gib'rish’.
Taking the stage at Ipswich’s Corn Exchange in April for a special live speaking event, one of rock's greatest storytellers invites audiences behind the curtain to share laughter and hear personal stories from a remarkable career in music.
And he says he is relishing the chance to revisit the moments that shaped his life.
"I am ecstatic in anticipation of sharing tales not only from the road and studios, but also my early years and the amazing souls I have had the pleasure to meet along the way. From hilarious rock 'n' roll stories to reflections on life and the wonderful experiences I have had, I hope to have audiences transfixed from the start!"
With a remarkable career spanning more than 65 years, Ian has recorded more than 79 studio albums and has received honours including induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, a Grammy Hall of Fame award and the Ivor Novello International Award.
From his earliest days with The Javelins, through his unforgettable performance in Jesus Christ Superstar and on to the global phenomenon of Deep Purple - with plenty of unexpected detours in between - his musical journey is the stuff of rock history.
Now, the 'Talking Gib'rish’ tour offers something truly special: a rare chance to hear tales of that journey directly from Ian himself - witty, insightful and wonderfully unfiltered. Expect remarkable encounters, plenty of humour and Ian's unique perspective on a life lived at full volume.
The songs may have made him a legend, but the stories promise to be just as memorable.
As Ian revealed in a recent interview: "I've got shelves full of notebooks. I call it 'colour and rough gibberish’. I jot down everything - phrases, what people were drinking, how the wind was blowing - anything that adds detail."
Those notebooks have been waiting a lifetime to be opened.
And now the ‘Talking Gib'rish’ tour is doing just that, promising a rare and intimate evening as Ian reflects on six extraordinary decades.
Meanwhile, as frontman of Deep Purple, he is currently conquering audiences on the band's own world tour, while their latest album, ‘Splat!’, has stormed straight into the top of the charts around the globe.
Ian Gillan Talking Gib’rish is at The Corn Exchange, Ipswich on 29 April 2027.
