Local community theatre company, Bury Theatre Workshop, is bringing the hilarious comedy ‘Lord Arthur Savile’s Crime’ to The Quay Theatre in Sudbury this week.

The play, written by Constance Cox and based on a short story by Oscar Wilde, follows the young Lord Arthur, who is told by a palm-reader (of questionable veracity) that, during his life, he is to commit a murder. In order to marry his fiancée, Sybil, with a clear conscience, he decides he must do this before their wedding day! Not the brightest of aristocrats, what follows is a hilarious range of failed attempts by Arthur on the lives of his family members, assisted - or hindered - by the cheerful anarchist, Winkelkopf, and with the guidance of his faithful butler, Baines.

Full of over the-top characters (with aunts a-plenty) and Wilde-ean one-liners, the production promises a wealth of old-fashioned silliness to put a smile on your face and a spring in your step.
