Award-winning romantic comedy heads to Suffolk stage

Inspired by the timeless genius of Mr Bean, Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton, ‘A Brief Case of Crazy’ is a heart-warming and hilarious physical comedy told through slick choreography, mime, clowning and puppetry.
Produced by Skedaddle Theatre andShoddy Theatre - in association with York Theatre Royal - the award-winning play is currently on its UK tour following a successful Edinburgh Fringe run in 2024 and a London run in 2025. This month it hits Suffolk and audiences will be able to enjoy the silent love story with a very loud heart at both the Eastern Angles Centre in Ipswich and The Quay Theatre, Sudbury.
The story…
Set in an office space, the heartwarming tale follows the embarrassing daily life of introvert Thomas who gets dragged out of his comfort zone and closer to his shy office crush Daisy by a magical briefcase.
Thomas muddles through his 9–5 job, quietly admiring his shy colleague, but when their boisterous boss also sets his sights on her, Thomas finds himself caught in a love triangle. With social anxiety, a troublesome briefcase and a series of extraordinary misadventures standing in his way, can he overcome his insecurities and win Daisy’s heart – or discover that what’s on the inside matters most?
Through a combination of slick choreography, clowning, imaginative physical comedy and fumbling characters, this show explores how people who may feel like outcasts in society can find love and happiness.

Told through elements of puppetry, dance, object manipulation, mime, and distinct characterisation, Skedaddle Theatre draws inspiration from physical comedy’s iconic history, creating a trio of ludicrous characters in their own distinct style.
The production is aimed at anyone who enjoys the classics of physical comedy, and families looking for an uplifting experience.
Writer, director, producer and performer, Rowan Armitt-Brewster, said: “‘A Brief Case of Crazy’ represents those who are ‘different’ and ‘awkward’ in modern society, shining a positive light on their uniqueness, and encourages the audience to work harder to accept these individuals and to celebrate them.”
Skedaddle Theatre, comprising three East 15 graduates, Rowan Armitt-Brewster, Lennie Longworth and Samuel Cunningham were proud recipients of the Assessor's Choice Award at the 2026 OFFWestEnd Awards, and Rowan collected the OFFWestEnd Award for Best Staging for ‘A Brief Case of Crazy’.

All the hard work pays off in such a satisfying way when you feel the magic of a live audience experiencing a story with you, you can hear them laughing at the jokes, feel them being moved by tender moments, and getting hyped up by the choreography.
