Levison Wood

Levison Wood, the world-renowned explorer and TV presenter, is touring a new live show that celebrates the human spirit and the transformative power of travel.

The best-selling author and photographer will be transporting the audience to some of the world’s most breathtaking and challenging landscapes, as he shares captivating stories from his remarkable adventures over the past 20 years. Highlights include Walking the Nile, the Himalayas and Americas, as well as exploring volatile borders across the Middle East and documenting efforts to protect endangered species across three continents.

Levison Wood is a great adventurer and a wonderful storyteller.
— Sir Ranulph Fiennes

He has travelled and filmed in over one hundred countries worldwide. In 2013-14, he was the first person to walk alongside the river Nile - an expedition of 4,250 miles that took nine months and was Channel 4's most successful factual series of the year. In 2015, Lev walked the length of the Himalayas, a six-month journey of over 1700 miles from Afghanistan to Bhutan, and his next expedition took him 1,800 miles along the length of Central America from Mexico to Colombia.

Wood has made a name for himself by finding novel ways to experience inaccessible and dangerous places. He’s hitchhiked from England to India and back, crossing conflict zones in Iraq and Afghanistan; driven ambulances from London to Malawi for a charity; walked across Madagascar; protected George Clooney in South Sudan; fought Taliban insurgents as an officer in the British Parachute Regiment in Afghanistan; and helped a pop star perform an outdoor concert in the coldest inhabited place on Earth.

Levison’s live show, ‘Walking the World: A Life of Exploration and Adventure’, will inspire both seasoned travellers and those dreaming of their first journey, as he delves into the philosophy of exploration, reflecting on how his military background, his love for photography and his role as a journalist have shaped his approach to travel. He will reveal the creative process behind filming his expeditions, touching on the unexpected moments of connection, beauty, risk and reward that have marked his career and the lessons he’s taken from those travels.

Levison said: “I’ve had many unforgettable experiences over the years, from surprising moments of beauty to perilous adventures that pushed me to the edge. I’m thrilled to be back on tour sharing these stories face-to-face with everyone. There’s nothing like the energy of a live crowd, and I hope to inspire a few more adventurers to get out there."

Join Levison Wood this May for an unforgettable show filled with adventure, wisdom, humour and a sense of wonder about the world we live in.

Levison Wood is at The Apex on Monday 26 May at 7.30pm.
